When designing fabric, I hold in my mind how I expect the fabric will be used. In the case of my Godwit design, my I was thinking of tweedy colours to go with minimalist furniture and for use upholstering mid-century and thirties-era chairs. Here is a video I made of me designing that fabric 10 years ago when my brand was called Ecofabric. It did get put on chairs and many more things besides.
